Pyramid Lake Fishing Report:

Water temps: 43-46 degrees

Fishing:

Fishing right now all depends on the wind, Windy days, whether there are clouds or not, seem to make the fish happy and come in closer to shore, on those non windy days look for fish to be in early; but the better bite with water temps will be in the late afternoon into evening. Midges have been the go-to for my guide trips. Dark days darker bodied midges, brighter days brighter body midges. Don’t be afraid to play with sizing as well, I’m noticing fishing are starting to select smaller sizes. With higher wind and higher wave height look to balance leech bites to pick up. There are still big fish around so get out while you can, all of us guides are holding our breath to what March brings for fishing since the last few years it’s been tough fishing!

Truckee River, Nevada:

Water temps: 37-40 degrees

Flows: 450+ we have a few Pineapple Express storms this week into next week. Look for flows to shoot up but a couple days of clear weather flows should drop back down.

Fishing:

The Truckee River this Fall and Winter has fished the best I’ve seen ever. February brings our best Dry Fly fishing of the year with the Blue Wing Olive hatch. Nymphing in the mornings, and dry fly fishing in the later mid-day into the early afternoon. Streamer fishing is starting to pick up, but if you want the streamer bite, you have to commit to it for possible one to three shots at fish on the streamer.

As always we have dates available for guide trips, you can email, call or you can book online for Guide Trips.

Tight lines this week!!
